Support for your editors? Yes, but only if the quality is great!

Everyone wants quality. Whether you buy a pack of coffee or book a hotel. But also when it comes to editorial support for your publishing company. It's about getting value for money. " But what exactly is that value? And do you have realistic expectations? Don't you expect too much or maybe even too little? Do you know what you can expect at all?

Doing what you promise ...

That is of course the most important thing. If, for example, someone is needed to make text corrections or to acquire images, you must be able to trust that this will be done properly. It may seem simple, but it is essential that the editor will know exactly what is expected. Only if all details are clear, the assignment can be carried out as desired.

The right competencies

A person with the right skills has the necessary knowledge, the right attitude and acts in the spirit of where he works. In following blogs I will get even more into detail about the knowledge and the way will get this working. What you have to remember is that this is not the only thing. Especially when a remote employee is going to help your editors, it is important that it fits within the culture that prevails.

The right time

Extra help is often needed at peak times or when someone leaves your organization. Often this is unexpected, but there are patterns and set times throughout the year when extra staff is needed. It is absolutely worthwhile to anticipate this in time, to postpone some activities or to split them up so that each specialist is busy with what he should be doing.

So ... quality is then a qualified employee who fits within the culture of (your) publishing company and who is available when you need it? That sounds logical, but is it also obvious? In other words, how do you manage with this? We do this by giving attention, with knowledge and experience.

To be a good (conversation) partner, we must of course know what is going on. Fortunately, we are already talking to many of you and we know pretty well what is going on in the publishing sector. As a result, we see things coming in time and we can switch quickly. Moreover, we think it is important to get into regular discussions with each other about developments and future work. In all modesty, I dare to say that through my experience as a designer, project manager and publisher, I really speak your language.

And what about knowledge then?

Crius Group focuses entirely and exclusively on the publishing sector. But what are the benefits for you in the context of editing? There are many! Can it be smarter or easier? That is always the first question we try to answer. Only then we can look for the right internal or external employees. But there is more. In my next blog I will tell you about the program that we are developing to get and keep the knowledge of our external employees up to date. If you use our services, this is also available for your own employees. In that way, everyone thinks the same. 😉

And last but not least, experience certainly counts. Crius Group has been around for thirty years now and almost everyone working at Crius Group has experience in the sector. Often we do not hear these kind of questions for the first time and we can read between the lines. That is precisely why we can do that little bit extra that really helps you as a publisher.

Do you find this story recognizable? Or is it too good to be true? I can't hide that we are at the start of this and that a lot still needs to be done. But it is certain that all ingredients are present to tackle this in a way that you are used to from Crius Group.

Let's talk!

Are you a publisher looking for help and would you like to discuss this with me? Or are you an editor looking for new projects and do you feel appealed by this approach? Then contact me and we'll discuss it with a cup of coffee ☕️.

Yes please!
