Editorial? Project management? Give it to Crius Group!

👉 Focusing on innovation, while not compromising classic productions.

It's all hands on deck at Wolters Kluwer. The publishing house is in full transition from the classic publishing model to a supplier of digital content. To ensure a smooth transition, it is important that they keep open the shop while the renewal continues. Ideal partner for this realization? Crius Group, of course.

Wolters Kluwer was urgently looking for an external party that could help them realize an important project: focusing on innovation, while not compromising the classic productions. Given that we have been trusted for more than 35 years for editorial support, the choice of partner was also made quickly this time.

What was expected?

That Crius Group provided a small team of people who are strong in relationship management, planning and communication. They would mainly follow up publications, from recruiting texts from authors to placing them online or putting finished files into print. That is not an easy question anyway, let alone in full corona time. And there was also a tight timing behind it.

Completely new project with new employees

At Crius Group we didn't have enough editors to handle such a large project. That is why we started looking for new employees who could work full-time for this specific project.

Zita Servaes was the first to be brought on board to start this project as Editorial Process Coordinator (EPC). After Zita, 3 extra EPCs were added, including a French-speaking profile. Together with a number of freelancers, they work in tandem with Wolters Kluwer's EPC team

Was it easy? Certainly not. Were the challenges great? Absolute! Fortunately, we were given enough time to become familiar with the material and the project now runs like a well-oiled machine.

So what exactly does our EPC team do?

The tasks of the EPC team are very diverse. They are mainly concerned with management tasks such as planning, follow-up and adjustment. Their range of tasks consists of 3 main subcategories:

  • Project management: from the planning of publications to their coordination and implementation, an EPC monitors everything very closely. In addition, the EPC also checks the copies and proofs, makes inquiries with authors and places the publications on online systems.
  • Author management: strong communication between the publisher and the authors is crucial for a smooth project progress. The EPC is therefore constantly playing ping-pong with the authors about planning, content, completion and availability.
  • Administration management: maintaining documents, following up on reports and processing data, that's part of it too!

The strength of Crius Group?

Total unburdening, that is our focus today. At Wolters Kluwer and of course also at other parties. We believe that bringing editing and typesetting under one roof only has advantages. This way we can also look along to organize the intermediate steps during the entire production process more efficiently. Everybody happy!
