Print centric
How exactly does the print centric process work? Discover it here.
ALEXAs the name suggests, this workflow focuses on the paper product. This means that the entire workflow is more or less geared to this delivery format. The different steps in this process are roughly as follows:
1. Delivery copy
Copy is provided in MS Word. Preferably structured, of course, but if this is not the case, an operation will first be performed.
2. Page layout
Copy is loaded into the typesetting package (Adobe InDesign or FrameMaker). Pages are then typesetted and submitted to the publisher as a proof for checking.
3. Correction rounds
Corrections are made by the editors on the PDF/print or directly in the typesetting file (using Adobe InCopy). These are then taken over by the typesetter in the typesetting file.
4. Generate (certified) PDF for printing
After one or more correction rounds, the final PDF file is created for printing.
The paper product is central, but this does not mean that other formats are not possible. If styles and the structure of the document are properly taken into account when typesetting the file, it is quite possible to create variants or export .
This also includes XML that can be used for other applications or input into a content management system. This process can be done semi-automatically. Crius Group uses the structure in Framemaker or InDesign to create XML. Only a one-time conversion needs to be written.
